US stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.85%, while the S&P 500 index added 2.47%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 3.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Salesforce.com Inc, which rose 6.33% or 11.06 points to trade at 185.74 to trade at 185.74. Meanwhile, Merck & Company Inc was up 4.94%, or 4.17 points, to trade at 88.58 and Nike Inc was up 4.79%, or 5.81 points, to trade at 127.05.
The worst performers of the session, Amgen Inc, fell 4.28% or 10.66 points to trade at 238.13 at the close. Caterpillar Inc was down 0.71%, or 1.52 points, to trade at 212.44, while Boeing Co was down 0.16%, or 0.24 points, to 154.22.
The best performers under the S&P 500 were Meta Platforms Inc, up 17.59% to trade at 205.73 while PTC Inc was up 17.18% to trade at 114.39. PayPal Holdings Inc, on the other hand, closed at 92.09, up 11.48%.
The worst performer, Align Technology Inc, was down 15.47% to trade at 304.66. O'Reilly Automotive Inc was down 12.62% to trade at 623.28%, while Stanley Black & Decker Inc was down 8.63% to close at 127.13.
The best performers on the NASDAQ Composite were T Stamp Inc, up 123.81% at 4.70, while Statera Biopharma Inc added 81.87% to trade at 0.38. Swvl Holdings Corp, on the other hand, was up 50.15% to close at 10.09.
The worst performer, Sio Gene Therapies Inc, was down 48.57% to trade at 0.31. BIOLASE Inc was down 34.20% to trade at 0.20 while Limelight Networks Inc was down 25.06% to close at 3.38.
While the number of stocks that gained value in the New York Stock Exchange was 2531, the number of those that lost value was determined as 681. In addition, 125 shares remained stable, with 2504 shares trading on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange rising and 1328 shares falling. Meanwhile, 265 shares remained stable.
Shares of Align Technology Inc (NASDAQ:ALGN) fell 15.47%, or 55.77%, to a 52-week low at 304.66. Shares of Stanley Black & Decker Inc (NYSE:SWK) fell 8.63%, or 12.01, to a 52-week low at 127.13. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares fell 0.16%, or 0.24, to a 52-week low at 154.22. Shares of Sio Gene Therapies Inc (NASDAQ:SIOX) fell 48.57%, or 0.29, to an all-time low of 0.31. Shares of BIOLASE Inc (NASDAQ:BIOL) fell 34.20%, or 0.10%, to an all-time low of 0.20. Shares of Swvl Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:SWVL) rose 50.15%, or 3.37, to an all-time high of 10.09.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures implied volatility for the S&P 500, dropped 5.09% to 29.99.
Gold Futures for June delivery gained 0.38%, or 7.09, to trade at $1.00 an ounce. Elsewhere on commodities, Crude Oil WTI Futures for June delivery rose 3.22%, or 3.28%, to trade at $105.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent Oil Futures for July delivery rose 2.28%, or 2.39, to trade at $107.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was steady at 1.05, holding steady 0.47%, while USD/JPY was up 1.87% to trade at 130.82
Dollar Index Futures were up 0.67% to trade at 103.66
